The Typhoon
The concept
of typhoon is used in the field of meteorology to refer to
the hurricane that forms in the ocean or, more precisely, in
the sea of China . A hurricane, on the other hand, is a
strong wind that produces whirlwinds.
Typhoons can
be associated with tropical cyclones . In this case, a typhoon
is a storm that causes rains and winds of considerable intensity,
generating consequences such as floods and very large waves in the
sea. For example: "Three dead after the passage of a typhoon
along the Chinese coast , " "The villagers fear that a new
typhoon will occur . "
A typhoon,
in this way, can be devastating for a coastal population. The boats that
are in the sea can also experience great problems for this kind of
storms.
Despite
the catastrophe it can cause if it attacks a population or a boat,
the typhoon also has benefits for nature , since it can reduce the
effects of a drought or transport heat from the tropics to the more temperate,
and this makes it an atmospheric circulation mechanism of great importance at
the global level, capable of promoting the balance in the troposphere and the
stability of the terrestrial temperature.
Typhoon ,
on the other hand, is the name of a divinity of Greek mythology. It is the
son of Gea and Tartarus : a giant monster with wings, snakes on
the legs and dragon heads instead of fingers.
The mythology indicates
that Typhon was able to spit lava and fire, scorching his opponents
with his eyes and causing hurricanes from the movement of their
wings. When Zeus defeated the Titans , Typhonconfronted
him. Although at first he had managed to dominate the king of the gods and
had torn off his tendons, he was finally defeated by him, as Hermes helped him
recover his physical integrity.
Zeus ,
in this way, confined Typhon under Mount Etna after a
fierce struggle. His defeat does not mean that Typhon lacked strength ; On
the contrary, historical documents often describe him as a terrifying being,
high enough to touch the very stars.
Typhoon had
several children with a nymph named Echidna, which some recognize as the mother
of Medusa and Calirroe, and among them are the Chimera, Cerberus, the Hydra of
Lerna, the Sphinx, the Lion of Nemea and the Eagle of Prometheus. On the
other hand, warm winds are also considered his children , which
is why it is believed that in his name is the origin of the term typhoon,
understood as a storm, as explained in the previous paragraphs.
Typhoon (the
English term equivalent to typhoon), finally, is the denomination of a combat aircraft ( Eurofighter
Typhoon ), of a British fighter-bomber used in the Second World War
( Hawker Typhoon , whose manufacture was in charge of Hawker
Aircraft) and the stage name of an American fighter who retired in 2004 ( Fred
Ottman ), who first appeared in the World Wrestling Federation ( World
Wrestling Federation ) in 1989 with the stage name Big Man Steel .
