Man

The term man can be defined from different perspectives. Sometimes, to cite a case, it can be used to describe hominids , any male that belongs to the human race or, at a historical level and / or with broader meanings, humanity in general , without distinction of any kind between ladies and gentlemen (for example, with phrases like "Man was nomadic and moved to look for food" ). In any case, at present, this form of naming the human species is being questioned because it denotes the sexist aspect of the language, which must be modified, in pursuit of an equitable integration for all genders.

In its habitual use, the word man identifies the beings that belong to the masculine gender . The concept of male is also used to indicate the human male from a biological point of view, but we can not fail to take into account that the word man covers a greater number of notions.

Of course, man has his own biological and psychological qualities that make it possible to draw noticeable differences between him and the woman . Among them, testosterone appears , an androgenic hormone exclusive of gentlemen that facilitates the development of the body muscles without the need to make great sacrifices. The members of the female group produce this hormone, but on a much smaller scale.

On the other hand, the male reproductive system gives man the power to fertilize the female ovum and transmit the genetic data through the sperm cell . In man, the main sexual organs are external ; On the other hand, in the case of women, they are internal.

Among other details that mark differences between men and women, are a deeper tone of voice , a higher physical height , hair growth in the facial area , greater body volume , the propensity to baldness and a more resistant skin .

It should be noted that, beyond the social development achieved, men in general have a shorter life expectancy than women since they usually live an average of seven years more.

The man and the family

Formerly it was said that the man was the head of the household, in charge of bringing money to feed the whole family while the woman was responsible for carrying out housework and maintaining order and family harmony. Nowadays things have changed, in some cases the roles have been reversed and in others both roles are shared (both bring money and collaborate with housework and parenting).

It should be noted, with regard to the role that man plays within the family, that the concept of family has changed a lot. Although societies are quite resistant to change, the idea of ​​family as understood a few decades ago is no longer immovable . Now, as heads of family there can be a single individual (single, widowed, separated) or couples formed by a woman and a man, two women or two men, indistinctly. In the ideal society, possibly the concept of family could include heterogeneous forms , groups of people who are united by something precise, not necessarily the blood ties, as it happens in nature in the populations of living beings, such as herds in the wolves.

Finally, we can mention that the term man is also used to refer to a male human being who has ceased to be a child , who has entered the stage of adult life , who has clear responsibilities and freedom.
