The Apocalypse
The Greek
term apokalypsis derived in apocalypsis , a term of late
Latin, and then came to Castilian as apocalypse . The concept is
often used with reference to the end or collapse of
the world .
For
example: "If the human being continues acting in this way, the
apocalypse awaits us" , "When the apocalypse arrives, I
want to be at peace with myself and with my neighbors" , "I
do not believe in the apocalypse: in a way, everything this will always
continue to work . "
It is known
as the Apocalypse or Book of Revelations to the final
section of the New Testament . It is a book of the Bible that
has a prophetic style, since it anticipates a series of events that will take
place in the future.
For its
large number of symbolisms, the Apocalypse is a work subject to
multiple interpretations. In fact, the Apocalypse can be understood in
different ways according to the school of thought or faith.
At a general
level, apocalypticism is called the position of Judaism , Islam , Christianity and
other religions regarding the imminence of an apocalypse that will
end the world as we know it and that will give way to a new stage after the
return or appearance of a savior. In this context, the apocalypse is
understood as a fact of divine justice since men will be subjected to the Final
Judgment .
In everyday
language, the apocalypse is mentioned as a catastrophe that puts the
existence or state of things at risk : "The
resignation of the president, at this moment, would be the apocalypse" , "A
new world war would provoke an apocalypse" .
As a proper
name, Apocalypse (or In Sabah Nur ) is a fictional
character belonging to the stories of Men X ( X-Men ), a
series published by the company Marvel Comics . It was created
and designed by Louise Simonson and Walter Simonson, respectively; his
first appearance took place in 1986. In addition to the field of comics ,
Apocalypse has appeared in series of cartoons, movies, video games, collectible
cards and table games, among other products.
Apocalypse
is one of the most powerful villains of Men X , and
enjoys great popularity among fans. It is a mutant of more than five millennia
old, native of Akkaba, Egypt. His parents abandoned him when he was still
a child, for fear of his appearance, characterized by bluish lips and gray
skin. A demon named Baal saw his potential and decided to rescue
him; He baptized him in Sabah Nur and raised him as if he were
his own son.
His new
tutor taught him that only the fittest can survive , and this
principle seems to be present throughout his life, since Nur gets the domain
through adaptation . Abandonment, desolation and disappointment
are common elements in its early years, and it is from so much suffering that
one day it unleashes all its power and changes its name to Apocalypse, to start
a new stage.
The
millennia pass, and Apocalypse travels around the world, getting various
civilizations of history to worship him as a god , and manipulate
them to test his strength. One of the most attractive aspects of this
character is his ability to transform and improve his skills, something he
learns from a very advanced alien civilization.
In 2016 a
film entitled X-Men: Apocalypse was released , directed by Bryan
Singer and starring James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Rose
Byrne and Oscar Isaac, among others. Given the impossibility of
compressing the entire history of this intricate character in less
than three hours, it is an approximate adaptation that focuses on his awakening
after thousands of years of inactivity.
